NHCA Student Expectations
NHCA promotes Christian character in all students. Students are expected to follow Biblical standards of conduct both inside and outside of school.
- Respect for Authority – Follow school rules and respect teachers and administrators.
- Respect for Others – Honor others and their belongings.
- Honesty – Integrity in speech and writing. Cheating and deception are not tolerated.
- Modesty in Dress – Follow the school dress code.
- Responsible Technology Use – Only approved websites are allowed. No unauthorized device use.
- No Bullying – Includes social media. Zero tolerance policy.
- Safety First – Report threats of harm to teachers or administrators.
- Appropriate Behavior – No aggressive contact, inappropriate touching, or sexual misconduct.
- Personal Belongings – Bookbags, cell phones, and handbags may be searched by the administration.
- Attendance Matters – Regular attendance is required per NC law. Absence notes must be submitted upon return.
By following these expectations, students contribute to a God-honoring and safe learning environment.
Dress Code at NHCA
New Hope Christian Academy maintains a dress code to promote respect, unity, and a focus on learning. All students are required to wear NHCA shirts, which are the only acceptable attire for school. Shirts must be tucked in, and students are expected to wear a belt. For the current prices of NHCA shirts, please contact the office.
School Hours
- Drop-off begins at 7:30 am. If your child is eating breakfast.
- First Bell: 7:55 am (students should be in their classrooms)
- Second Bell: 8:00 am (students arriving after this must get a tardy slip from the office)
- Dismissal Times:
- Kindergarten – 2:15 am
- Elementary Learning Center 1 – 2:20 pm
- Elementary Learning Center 2 – 2:25 pm
- Upper Learning Center – 2:30 pm
After-school care is not provided. Parents are responsible for transportation to any after-school program. Several area after-school programs pick up from our location. Students who are picked up after 2:50 pm may be subject to a fee of $10.00.
Early Dismissal
- Parents must sign students out at the office.
- Early dismissals should be for emergencies only.
- Leaving before 11:00 am is considered an absence.
General Dismissal
- Follow the car pickup line at your child’s designated time.
- If you park, walk to the entrance to pick up your child – students may not cross the parking lot alone.
Visitors
- All visitors must check in at the office and wear a visitor badge before entering classrooms.
Honor Roll
Students with 90% – 100% and academic balance qualify for honor roll recognition:
- Pastor’s Honor Roll: 95% – 100%
- Principal’s Honor Roll: 90% – 94%
Report Cards & Parent Conferences
- Issued every nine weeks for all grades
- Mandatory parent-teacher conferences are held after each nine-week grading period where parents must sign report cards and will be given a copy for their records
- Additional conferences may be scheduled as needed throughout the year
Grade School
- A = 95-100
- B = 90-94
- C = 85-89
- D = 80-84
